CVGT Australia’s special presentation evening 2017
The results are in for CVGT Australia’s annual presentation evening, with an apprenticeship award and staff and board members recognised for their service to the company and industry.
Hosted at Bendigo’s historic Fortuna Villa, guests celebrated the achievements of the recipient of The Matthew Baldock Memorial Award, retiring directors and Apprenticeship Employment Network service awards.
CVGT Australia Deputy CEO John Lynch said that the annual presentation event was the culmination of a rigorous assessment period to identify a recipient who had demonstrated commitment, dedication and excellence in the workplace.
The Matthew Baldock Memorial award recognises CVGT Australia plumbing and gas fitting apprentice Matthew Baldock who sadly passed away in 2000. In honour of Matthew, CVGT Australia gives special recognition to a plumbing apprentice who displays a high level of skill, initiative and commitment to their trade.
“The winner of the 2017 Baldock award is Charles Cottrell, a fourth year apprentice plumber hosted by Specific Refrigeration Mechanical Services.
“After a few false starts, Charles recommenced his plumbing apprenticeship with CVGT as a second year apprentice and was successful with a placement on the new Bendigo hospital construction site.
“At the conclusion of the hospital contract, Charles transferred to a new host employer, Specific Refrigeration based in Melbourne
“Charles has demonstrated great resilience, he is a quick learner and his friendly nature and great leadership skills means that less experienced workers will seek support and advice from him. His results at trade school are impressive, and after demonstrating competency across all disciplines, he is set for early completion,” Mr Lynch said.
As the winner of the Matthew Baldock award Charles received a $500 cheque from CVGT Australia, a prize, trophy and a certificate.
CVGT Australia chairman Graham Fountain acknowledged the achievements of three retiring directors Rosalie Lake, Ann Jones and Steven Stubberfield who have dedicated many years of service to the company.
“On behalf of CVGT Australia management and staff, we extend our thanks and appreciation to Rosalie, Ann & Steven for their past, significant contributions in helping us achieve our goal of ‘getting people jobs’,” Mr Lynch added.
Apprenticeship Employment Network’s executive director Gary Workman recognised long serving CVGT board members and staff who have contributed to apprentices and trainees over many years.
The service awards included:-
- Rosalie Lake – 10 years
- Steven Stubberfield – 10 years
- Anne Jones – 15 years
- Leonard Dobbin – 15 years
- John Lynch – 20 years
- Robert Trew – 20 years
- Ian Grenfell (founding and current board member) – 30 years.
CVGT’s network employs around 250 apprentices and trainees in 100 businesses across Victoria.
