Change, fortitude highlighted in annual report

CVGT Employment’s Board has endorsed the organisation’s annual report for 2021-22, highlighting a year of significant challenges, changes and achievements.

The report was presented to the Board at the Annual General Meeting on Thursday 27 October. 

At the AGM, Chair Elizabeth Corbett was re-elected unanimously for another 12-month term, while Lee Bombardieri was confirmed as Deputy Chair for another year. 

Overcoming challenges

Ms Corbett highlighted the work of staff in the past financial year as the organisation continued to operate against the backdrop of COVID-19 lockdowns and restrictions. 

Despite these challenges, CVGT Employment supported more than 9000 people into work across Victoria, New South Wales and Tasmania. 

The business also posted a positive financial result, recording a $4.2 million surplus, while refreshing its strategic plan, reworking its service delivery model and developing a new vision: Opening doors – creating amazing futures. 

Financial discipline

“Being customer focused and flexible has enabled us to navigate some challenging circumstances to arrive at a very pleasing end of year result,” Ms Corbett said. 

It is a credit to the strong fiscal discipline being maintained at the company, and the commitment of our people towards securing meaningful work for jobseekers and, in so doing, transforming lives.

Dealing with change

Chief executive Jason Russell described the past financial year as a period of immense change. 

The business has successfully rebranded as CVGT Employment and transitioned to deliver the new Workforce Australia employment program. 

What has been so pleasing about managing these issues has been the resilience and fortitude our staff have shown throughout difficult times and their willingness to celebrate and support each other during the good.

Business transformation continues

“Combining the revised service delivery models and our partnership approach, we are excited to explore a range of new programs in the next 12 months.” 

Mr Russell said work would continue to transform the organisation’s IT capabilities, while progressing towards a target of net zero emissions by 2030, and working to deliver CVGT Employment’s “Reflect” Reconciliation Action Plan.
