CVGT Employment to launch Parent Pathways

Starting 1 November 2024, CVGT Employment will offer increased support to parents and carers with the new Parent Pathways program across 36 locations in the regions of Bendigo, Western Melbourne, and Goulburn Murray.

This flexible and voluntary program will deliver personalised and financial support to eligible parents and carers of young children, helping them navigate the challenges of balancing parenthood with employment and education goals.

A community of support

“CVGT Employment’s Parent Pathways program is more than just a service, it’s a community,” says Silva Tecer, CVGT Employment’s Specialist Program Manager.

Our service offers a supportive and flexible environment where participants can connect with resources and qualified mentors to achieve their goals.

Transition to Parent Pathways

Parent Pathways will replace the existing ParentsNext program from the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations (DEWR). This transition is based on extensive consultations with parents, focusing on their needs and aspirations for themselves and their families.

Parents and stakeholders have played, and will continue to play, a significant role in the development and implementation of the new service.

Individual care

“Whether you’re receiving Parenting Payment, Carer Payment, or Special Benefit, and have a child under six years old, this program is tailored for you,” says Silva. “Voluntary participants can expect a safe, child-friendly, and welcoming environment that ensures comfort and confidentiality. Flexible appointment times will ensure support fits your family commitments.”

Participants will connect with qualified mentors who understand the challenges of balancing parenthood and work, receive financial assistance to achieve their employment and education goals, and access resources and services to support their journey. Most importantly, they will feel heard, supported, valued, and understood.

Our commitment

“After 40 years of delivering comprehensive employment services, we are excited to deliver the Parent Pathways program. This new program launch reflects our commitment to providing practical support and flexible services that build skills, confidence and readiness for work,” says Jason Russell, CVGT Employment’s Chief Executive Officer.

Our team builds relationships with local agencies, including childcare providers and community organisations, to give parents and carers the support they need.
