Belinda making a difference in her neighbourhood
Neighbourhood houses are crucial organisations doing important work in houses in local communities across Australia. They provide education, support and friendship to a diverse range of people in big cities and small towns.
At Ararat in western Victoria, the local Neighbourhood House is also providing meaningful employment to Belinda, who first connected with us at CVGT Employment in 2021.
Belinda, in her early 50s, had struggled for some time to find consistent work, moving between a range of local retail and administration roles.
But a Work for the Dole placement at the Ararat Neighbourhood House, helping out with its Community Food Hub, has led to a sustained period of employment.
Belinda came to Ararat Neighbourhood House under Work for the Dole project and I was really happy with her work and behaviour towards the community, as she is very polite and good listener,
Teli Kaur
Neighbourhood House manager
“So, ANH staff and Committee of Governance interviewed her and decided to take Belinda as an admin assistant for ANH.
“She is doing wonderful and enjoying her role at ANH.”
Belinda’s story is a great example of how connecting with us at CVGT can open doors to meaningful employment.
Our local team’s connection with the Neighbourhood House was just the start Belinda needed.
