Get moving for mental health
CVGT Australia is getting moving to help raise funds for mental health treatment and support.
We are proud to sponsor the Bendigo Health Foundation’s Move for Mental Health 2021 initiative – an online fundraiser with significant real-life benefits.
“As an organisation that promotes the wellbeing of our staff, program participants and partners, CVGT Australia is proud to partner with Bendigo Health and be a supporter of Move for Mental Health,” says Mark Little, CVGT Australia’s General Manager Strategy and Communication.
“Exercise is great for physical and mental health, and this initiative will connect you or your team with a fun, like-minded community passionate about supporting improved health care.”
People of all abilities can register now as individuals or teams for the event. Participants can set exercise or fundraising goals, then update their progress online.
All money raised goes towards improved mental health services across the Loddon Mallee region, covering central and north-west Victoria.
Dr Skye Kinder – a former Bendigo Young Citizen of the Year and Young Australian of the Year nominee – is patron of the event.
Dr Kinder, who works in mental health, is a passionate advocate for rural patients and their communities. She says the fundraiser provides a great opportunity to get active.
“Exercise has been proven to reduce feelings of stress, anxiety and depression, as well as improve sleep, cognitive function and help us to maintain a healthy weight,” she says. “Our bodies create endorphins when we exercise which helps to improve our mood. There is substantial evidence that confirms regular exercise can make a huge difference to the prevention of, and recovery from, severe mental illness.”
