Helping Sharon on to the career highway
When Sharon approached CVGT Australia for help to find work, she faced several barriers to employment – including a lack of transport.
But with the help of our Devonport team she’s now driving her career forward.
Sharon came into the Devonport office for her initial appointment in August 2021 with employment consultant Amy.
“We worked together to get Sharon ready for employment and to help to overcome her barriers,” Amy says.
Sharon also worked with business development consultant Jannah to build her confidence and skills to find work. Jannah discussed Sharon’s potential with such organisations as Brumby Hill Aboriginal Corporation and National Disability Services.
Sharon soon found work with IGA Spreyton in October, but her lack of transport meant she found getting to and from work difficult.
The CVGT Devonport team got to work and secured funding to purchase a car from local dealer JMC for Sharon to make getting to and from work possible.
“Sharon was supported to purchase her forever car, a bright yellow Honda!” Amy says.
“CVGT also assisted with work and interview clothing, PPE and work shoes, using the Employment Fund.
“She has made significant progress with our support in the Back2Work program to further address her employment barriers.
“She continues to be employed with IGA Spreyton and says she is enjoying her employment. Sharon has shown great perseverance, commitment and personal growth.”
The CVGT Australia team at Devonport is keeping up the support for Sharon as she continues to motor along the career highway.
